Memorial Day Concerts Begin - The Memorial Day Concerts occur evey Memorial Day on the West Lawn of the Capitol Building. Eah concert commemorates American military service through dramatic readings, documentary footage and live musical performances, along with an all-star line-up of dignitaries, actors and musical artists.
Million Man March - The Million Man March, considered one of the most important modern events of African-American civil rights, was a gathering en masse of social activists. Called by Louis Farrakhan, it was held on and around the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on October 16, 1995.
Commemorative Works & Revision Act - Congress enacted the Commemorative Works Clarification and Revision Act of 2003, which prohibits the siting of new commemorative works and visitor centers in a designated reserve area within the cross-axis of the Mall.
